‘Durga Pooja’ or Dussehra is basically ‘Shaktipooja’. It is through this Shakti that
Divinity manifests itself. It emanates from the ‘Parabramha’ when activates and rests in
‘Parabramha’ in a dormant state when not manifested. Thus, there is no difference, between
the ‘Parabramha’ and His Shakti or ordinarily known as ‘Purusha’ and ‘Prakriti’. Adi
Shankaracharya at the height of his spiritual realisation came across this truth. The ‘Shakti’
takes different forms, symbolically represented by the various Devas and Devis etc. in the
Hindu mythology. These Shaktis have utility in carrying out the cycles of God’s desire i.e.
creation, maintenance and destruction.
In front of these Shaktis human beings are very fragile. A human being will become
miserable if any of these Shaktis would abandon him e.g. speech, hearing, etc. The Shakti
works both at micro and macro levels. They operate in atoms (Quantum Theory) and also
in the space (Relative Theory). Goddess ‘Kali’ is said to be the ruler of Kala i.e. ‘timedimension’
and Goddess ‘Tara’ is said to be ruling the space-dimension. They say that Bhadra Kali (Kali in a certain mood of action) is said to be crying because she feels hungry
even after swallowing a few universes. The beginning of the universes is also the beginning
of time or Kala. Similarly, the form of Durga or activities of Durga indicate the force which
having destroyed the destructive forces establishes supremacy of the creative forces and
Durga, 10 Mahavidyas, 18 Matrukas, 84 Yoginis, etc. It is difficult but necessary to please
these Shaktis. Many Sadhaks have faced great hazards. Those who make self-advertisement
through various media of possessing ‘tantrik’ powers are the most dangerous lot. I have
seen many innocent people having their nemesis at their hands.
What is the simple path then? The devotees of Sri Shirdi Sai know that whoever
surrenders to Him, He takes care. The Sadguru is the repository of all Shaktis. Because He
carries on the wishes of the ‘Parabramha’, therefore all Shaktis of the ‘Parabramha’ assist Him
whenever He wishes. Whenever we surrender to Him, the support of whatever Shakti is
necessary will be provided by Him, whether it is for material benefit or spiritual upliftment.
To various devotees He has shown Himself in the form of different deities and Avatars
Vishnu, Maruti, Krishna, Shiva, etc. On the day of Dussehra, He is to be worshipped as
Durga. Whatever He is, for us He is our most dear, most loving and most caring Sai.
He is our father, mother, friend and Guru.
